Basically its about three lads who want out of where they live. Its set in the 1970s and has a really good nostalgic feel to it of endless summers and messing about, which for someone who grew up in the 70′s is a bonus trip down memory wotsit.
Engaging tech drama that depicts ambition and the coming of he social web era. Great characterisation & amazing soundtrack
A dark, sometimes distressing film with themes of starvation, family & isolation;solid paced direction, use of colour and sound
a snippet of 40s life with a steam train filled backdrop, beautifully filmed with a story that speaks to us all
not as funny as 1 or 3 and not especially well directed, but Chan and Tucker were great and look out for cameo from Ken Tsang, and then there’s Ziyi…
Yes critics panned this film but it wasn’t for them. It was for the younger, angrier generation. It’s no surprise that and subsequent generations took the film to their heart. It doesn’t look pretty, it’s not flash or stylish in the way that some films are now, it’s certainly not cleverly edited and the music weighs the film into it’s period but it speaks out to us angry kids, to all us angry kids.
